Jobsrunway's mission is to connect students, early-career talent, and companies, especially startups, to help people discover opportunities and help teams find great candidates. Central to this mission is being transparent about what data we collect, how we use it, and when we share it.

This Privacy Policy explains how Jobsrunway ("Jobsrunway," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and related services (the "Services"). Jobsrunway is an independent platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

1. Introduction

Scope

Jobsrunway is an online platform where individuals can explore opportunities and where companies can post roles, events, and connect with potential candidates. This Privacy Policy applies to both Members and Visitors.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Services or other reasonable means. Changes apply going forward from the effective date. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data You Provide

Registration & account details

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Name
  • Email address (and/or phone number if enabled)
  • Password (stored securely via hashing; we do not store plain-text passwords)
  • General location (e.g., city or region)
  • Role type (e.g., student/candidate or company)

Profile information (optional)

You may choose to provide:

  • Resume/CV, portfolio links (GitHub, LinkedIn, personal website)
  • Profile photo

Company information

For companies, we may collect:

  • Company name, website, description
  • Roles, events, or opportunities posted
  • Recruiting contacts (marked as private by default)

Applications, postings, and messages

We collect information you submit when you:

  • Apply for roles or opportunities
  • Post jobs or events
  • Message other users or interact with features

Important: Please do not submit sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, health information, or financial account numbers) unless a feature explicitly requests it and it is necessary.

2.2 Data From Others

We may receive information about you from:

  • Companies you apply to or interact with (e.g., application status updates)
  • Other users who refer or message you
  • Limited public or professional sources where lawful and relevant

2.3 Data From Your Use of the Services

We automatically collect certain usage and device information, including:

Session Recording & Analytics

We use third-party analytics tools (including PostHog) to understand how users interact with the Services. This may include session replays that record interactions such as navigation, clicks, and page usage.

Session recordings are used solely for:

Analytics data, including session replay data, is not sold and is not used for targeted advertising.

3.5 Paid Services (Future)

Jobsrunway is currently free. If paid features are introduced in the future, we may process billing-related data to:

  • Provide customer support
  • Prevent fraud
  • Comply with legal and tax obligations

No fees will be applied retroactively.

3.6 AI / Automated Processing (If Applicable)

Jobsrunway may use automated systems to:

4. How We Share Information

4.1 With Other Members (Core Functionality)

Profiles & visibility

Depending on your settings, certain profile information may be visible to:

  • Registered companies
  • Other registered users

All content on Jobsrunway is visible only to authenticated users unless explicitly stated otherwise. Jobsrunway does not make profiles or company pages publicly searchable or indexed by search engines.

Applications

When you apply to a role, the information you submit is shared with that company.

Messages

Messages are shared only with the recipients you choose.

4.2 With Service Providers

We use trusted third-party vendors for hosting, analytics, email delivery, customer support, and (if enabled) payments. These providers may access data only as necessary to perform services for Jobsrunway and are contractually required to protect it.

4.3 Legal and Safety Reasons

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to:

  • Comply with law or legal process
  • Enforce our agreements
  • Prevent fraud or security issues
  • Protect the rights, safety, or property of Jobsrunway or others

4.4 Business Transfers

You may opt out of marketing emails. You cannot opt out of essential service or security communications.

Deleted accounts may persist in backups for a limited period.

5.4 Shared Information

Content shared with others can be copied or reshared by those recipients. Jobsrunway cannot control content once it leaves the Services.

6.1 Security

We use safeguards designed to protect your information, but no system is completely secure. Use strong passwords and protect your account.

6.2 International Use

If you access Jobsrunway from outside the U.S., your data may be processed in the U.S. or other countries where our providers operate.

6.3 Children / Minimum Age

Jobsrunway is not intended for users under 16 (or older where required by local law). Accounts found to violate this may be removed.

6.4 Do Not Track

Browsers may offer "Do Not Track" signals. Jobsrunway may not currently respond to all such signals. Cookie controls are available via browser settings.
